Enhancing Greater Akron is the mission of Akron-based young professionals’ group, Torchbearers. The group of emerging leaders has identified a series of causes that are critical to address in our community, and the opiate epidemic is top of the list.
On October 25, the group will host its first fall fundraiser, “Art Against Addiction,” a silent art auction to raise funds to combat the opiate epidemic. Proceeds Will benefit Summit County Community Partnership’s drug disposal program known as Deterra, while supporting local artists.
Support of SCCP’s Deterra Project, will remove thousands of unused prescription medications from the streets and out of the hands of those who are addicted or who may become addicted.

Summit County had the third highest number of fentanyl-related unintentional overdose deaths in Ohio in 2016.
Over 50 pieces of artwork have been donated to the cause by amateur and professional artists from Northeast Ohio, including paintings, photography, wood carvings, blown glass, and more.
Light refreshments and entertainment will be provided, and all attendees will be entered into a raffle for a door prize. There is no cost to attend, but donations will be accepted for SCCP. The first 50 people to register and attend will receive a FREE piece of art
Art Against Addiction is taking place on October 25, 2017 from 5:30-7:30 PM at the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Health & Wellness Center in Bath.
