Opening reception for and exhibition of recent work by local artist, m coy at the Downtown Gallery in Kent.

The School of Art Collection and Galleries and the School of Art at Kent State University present an exhibition of recent work by local artist, m coy at the Downtown Gallery in Kent. Join us for the opening reception of “m – current works: a selection of art by m coy” on Thursday, January 18 from 5-7 pm at the Downtown Gallery (141 E. Main Street). The exhibition will be on view through February 17, 2018. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

Coy uses simple tools when creating his work; brightly colored paints, razor blades, and a spray gun. His paintings created on circular or square smooth plastic panels, which are presented individually and in groupings. In a statement, m coy says, “The imagery in my work varies, but in general I work in objects, icons, and symbols, with a style that is loose, quick, and energetic.
