BEGINNING CALLIGRAPHY

In this beginning Calligraphy class, students will learn to use the tools of a calligrapher, see examples of both historic and contemporary calligraphic styles, and learn to write basic italic letter forms. The class is taught through hands on practice with appropriate individual attention from the instructor.

We will discuss how to select the appropriate pens, inks, papers, and other materials necessary for calligraphy. The class includes a materials fee which covers the cost of a basic calligraphy pen, special lined paper, and necessary handouts. This class will begin with an introduction to the versatile and elegant Italic hand, which is wonderful for scrapbooking, Bible Journaling, personalized arts and crafts, and so much more! Please register in advance.

Dates: Saturday,Sept 16, 10-11am;
Saturday, Oct 21, 10-11am.

Cost: $20 for 2-hour class, plus $7 one-time materials fee

About the artist
Denise Hart Krall is a life-long artist. She experiments with many art forms, but she specializes in wildlife painting, drawing, and calligraphy. She grew up in Europe and holds a BA in Middle Eastern and Islamic History and a MS in Intelligence Analysis from Michigan State University. She spends most of her free time painting, making all natural soap (available at PAA) and bicycle riding on her beloved Tow Path Trail through the CVNP.
