“Following the Women’s March in January, we realized the presidential election had turned many of us into political activists. We found that what gave us hope in the face of hard realities was to focus our energy on effecting positive change in our local community. The purpose of this art exhibit is to allow residents to express their views through their art in an effort to begin a public discourse that considers ALL points of view, not just our own,” said Erica Antoniotti Wathey, of H.O.P.E.
You can see the artistic response from Barberton/Akron area artists whose voices will be heard through their art on President Trump’s one hundredth day in office. The First 100 Days: Artists Respond is a nationwide initiative encouraging artists to reflect on what is happening in the world using their art.
Artwork from “both sides of the aisle” will share wall space at Nine Muses. So far, Houston, Texas, and Barberton, Ohio, are the only two cities which have undertaken this call for art.

The exhibitions are free and open to the public. Nine Muses Gallery hours are Mondays, 7 a.m.-4 p.m.; Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 7 a.m.-8 p.m.; Thursdays, 7 a.m.-9 p.m.; Saturdays, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Closed on Sundays. The gallery is open for Barberton Fourth Friday, which is coming up on April 28, 5-8 p.m. Nine Muses is located at 584 W. Tuscarawas Ave., Barberton.
Nine Muses is operated by Summit Artspace, the community arts center for Summit County and surrounding areas.
