Frameworks: A Conversation with the Artists

Join Frameworks artists Dragana Crnjak, Andrea Joki and Matthew Kolodziej for a discussion of the primary themes, influences and processes that shape their work.

Free and open to all!

Join us for an artists’ talk with Frameworks artists Dragana Crnjak, Andrea Joki and Matthew Kolodziej. The three artists will discuss the primary themes, influences and processes that shape their paintings and wall-drawings, including memory, time and the physical vs. digital realms.

Dragana Crnjak (Youngstown), Andrea Joki (Cleveland) and Matthew Kolodziej (Akron) each approach painting as a process of inquiry into the way we understand time and space. The artists are particularly interested in the concept of time being fluid rather than linear. That fluidity is easily illustrated in our digital age—time can be visually compressed, drawn out and even layered. Interwoven into that equation is how memory becomes clouded or fragmented over time.

Find out more about Frameworks: Paintings by Dragana Crnjak, Andrea Joki and Matthew Kolodziej, an exhibition of contemporary art on view at the Akron Art Museum through September 9, 2018.
