Free Canvas Cubed Adult Workshop

Join talented local artists with the Alliance for the Visual Arts for fun and free Saturday workshops as part of the annual Kaleidoscope Holiday Show at Summit Artspace on East Market, 140 E. Market St., Akron.

Jeanne Henderson’s Canvas Cubed Adult Workshop; Free!

Adults will create their own custom Rubik’s Cube using their own original design with the guidance of local artist Jeanne Henderson. Participants must bring the following:

SUPPLY LIST
Scissors
Elmer’s glue
Ruler or straight edge
1” first aid tape or masking tape
Dry media (color pencils, crayons, markers, watercolor pencils, pastels…)
Collage materials and possibly an Exacto knife
A variety of surfaces will be furnished – pastel paper, canvas paper, yupo…but if you want to bring your own – one sheet 9x12ish should do.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  Each participant will get 8 wooden blocks, 1” cubes.
2. Using a simple taping pattern:
A. Tape the blocks in 4 sets of 2.
B. Arrange blocks in the pattern illustrated in a handout and tape them in that pattern.
3. Once all blocks are taped we will check them for correctness and reinforce each connection
4.  Measure and cut canvas or pastel paper to fit each block and glue to each block sides.
