Joseph Lupo - Artist Talk

Visiting artist in printmaking, Joseph Lupo will be giving a free artist talk about his work at Kent State’s School of Art.

Join us on Friday, March 2 for an artist talk with visiting artist in print media, Joseph Lupo. The talk begins at noon at Kent State’s Center for the Visual Arts. Visiting artists and scholars from all over the country come to Kent to give presentations on their work throughout the year. All lectures take place in room 165 at the Center for the Visual Arts (325 Terrace Drive, Kent, Ohio). Free and open to all.

In an artist statement, Lupo says,”Comics rely on both text and graphic images to make a storyline move along. By eliminating certain aspects of both characteristics I can begin to deconstruct the entire book. I believe this process begins to call into question how one reads comics and focuses on how presentation affects the way one interprets comic signifiers. These “incomplete” talk bubbles and images provide an opportunity for the viewer to engage with what is provided and to complete the image with her own preconceived notions. Arts & Culture Inclusion Council Presents: Representation Matters- Photography and Ad Spend
