Portraiture: art of mono printing

Use Monoprinting to explore facial anatomy and expression.

In this class, taught by Akron-based portrait artist Melissa Markwald, we will use mono printing to explore facial anatomy and expression. This class will cover additive and reductive methods of printing, color exploration of flesh, and compositions of portraiture.

Melissa Markwald graduated from the University of Akron, Myers School of Art, with a B.F.A emphasis in Painting and Drawing. Her large scale portraits have been displayed in downtown Akron through the Curated Store Front project and in 2016 she had a show at the Massillon Museum. Markwald is currently preparing for a show in the the Box gallery in October of 2017. Her studio is located at the Summit Art Space and she is working as a Senior Exhibition Technician at the Akron Art Museum.
