The Shrine of Realization and Other Extraordinary Objects by Mark Soppeland

Our winter exhibition features lit sculptures and new paintings by established Mark Soppeland. We are excited to exhibit for the first time Mark’s newest investigation, his Organic Algorithm series of paintings. On view now through February 17th!

The HSG Akron location will celebrate its winter exhibition featuring lit sculptures and new paintings by established artist: Mark Soppeland. His current work is engaged with three interconnected investigations. They are all related to his interests in found objects and images. Mark believes “the use of cultural detritus brings complex symbolic and cultural baggage to a meeting with efficiency and historical process, creating greater potential to evoke multiple levels of associative memories”. This concern for memory is related to his larger investigation of the “mental processes that is at the core of our self-awareness, our sense of existence and the fragile nature of sanity”.
