Verdi Requiem

at EJ Thomas Performing Arts Hall - University of Akron, Akron OH

May 05 2018
Verdi Requiem

Verdi’s Requiem is one of the greatest and most popular of all choral works. We will welcome the Akron Symphony Chorus and the Summit Choral Society Masterworks Chorale for a powerful evening of music.

For the first time in 20 years, the Akron Symphony Orchestra will perform Verdi’s great Requiem, a work Hans von Bülow described as “opera in church vestments.”

It begins in hushed prayerful tones and closes with an impassioned plea for salvation. In its most famous “scene,” trumpets surround the audience as if on Judgment Day.
