The original Mogadore Branch Library opened on October 16, 1966 in a former First National Bank building valued at $65,000 purchased by J. Frank Kimmerline and given to the Akron Public Library. From 1967 through 1982 the costs of operating the branch were shared by the Akron-Summit County Public Library and the Portage County District Library.
