This program presents a film that challenges inequalities in the U.S. juvenile justice system.
The U.S. is the only country in the world that sentences youth to Life Without Parole. This sentence not only affects the incarcerated individual and victim, but the whole community. The choice to allow youth to receive the harshest available sentence is not shared among all states. Thirty states allow the sentence; Ohio is one of them. This program presents a film that challenges inequalities in the U.S. juvenile justice system by depicting, through documentation and reenactment, the stories of five individuals who were sentenced to Life Without Parole as youth. Reentry material and handouts provided. Room 2AB.
