About Countryside Farmers’ Markets

Countryside Farmers’ Markets (CFM) are vibrant, producers-only farmers’ markets established and managed by Countryside Conservancy. Our markets are held in three unique locations: Howe Meadow in Peninsula, nestled in the middle of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park; Highland Square, a thriving, walkable community in West Akron; and Old Trail School, a private school within the Cuyahoga Valley National Park that emphasizes sustainability throughout its curriculum.

Credit Card, EBT and Carrot Cash

You can use your credit cards to purchase market tokens in $5 increments. Although there is a $1.50 fee associated with credit card token purchases to help cover the cost of the machine and transactions, these tokens never expire, are good at all market booths, and the vendors are able to give change if purchases are less than $5.

Countryside Farmers’ Markets proudly accept Ohio Direction Cards! Through support from the Wholesome Wave Foundation, we also offer a dollar-for-dollar incentive for SNAP customers, providing additional dollars for purchases of fresh fruits and vegetables. This program, called “Carrot Cash” is available at all three of our market locations.  SNAP customers swipe their cards at a terminal located at the market’s information booth.  Customers select the amount of dollars to be taken off their SNAP card, in exchange for tokens in $1 increments.  The tokens are good for the purchase of all SNAP eligible items. Additionally, a matching amount of Carrot Cash tokens  (up to $15), is provided for purchases of fresh fruits and vegetables.

No Pets at the Market, Please

While we love our furry friends, there is a “No Dogs Allowed” policy within the Countryside Farmers’ Markets.   Howe Meadow is a great place for dogs, however, and we encourage you to take them for a romp in the vast spaces outside of the market itself.  Or, hop across the street to the Towpath Trail and have a nice hike with your four-legged friend.  Keep in mind that the Cuyahoga Valley National Park requires that dogs be kept on leashes at all times.
