Akron Artworks aims to provide expert art instruction and therapeutic activities to children and adults in the Akron, OH area.

Co-Owners, Micah and Karin each bring their respective expertise and passions to this family business. Micah, an artist and art educator, and Karin, a clinical psychologist, together imagined a creative space where individuals of any age can explore art materials, develop their creative selves,  and soothe the soul through stress-reduction and other therapeutic activities.

Micah and Karin live in Akron with their two daughters and dogs.

Akron ArtWorks has its very own, dedicated SPLATTER room…. a place where creativity knows no limit and fun abounds!!

Splatter Parties

From birthday parties, to showers or a night out with friends, you can reserve our splatter room for a fun get-together. All can join in to make one large masterpiece or everyone makes their own piece of art, there is no age limit or skill required!! Family Splatter
Bring the family together and create a gorgeous original masterpiece! All ages can contribute and the fun has no limits. Family splatter can be scheduled at your convenience and all materials are provided. Board/Canvas sizes range from 28″X 34″ to 30″X 60″ and will be sealed and/or stretched. OWNERS

Dr. Karin Coifman, Clinical Psychologist, is an Associate Professor at Kent State University in the Department of Psychological Sciences. She has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University and has worked as a therapist with children and families for the last fifteen years.  Karin has a deep appreciation for art and art making and is thrilled to combine this with her research and clinical expertise in stress management and psychological therapies. 

Micah Beree, Artist and Art Educator, has a M.A. in Art Education from Teacher’s College, Columbia University and a B.F.A. from the University of Denver. A photographer who’s other passion is in mark making. Micah believes that self confidence and self esteem can grow out of one’s comfort with art making. He believes that through exploration with art materials we can discover new models of self expression and new depths of self-satisfaction.
