Hudson Library & Historical Society, a Library Journal Five-Star Library, was established in 1910. In 2005 the Library moved from a 1,800 square foot historic structure to a 54,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility located in the heart of downtown Hudson. Since relocating, the Library has experienced tremendous growth in users, programs, services offered, and technological innovation, establishing it as the community’s educational hub. On any given day the Library can be transformed into a concert hall providing world-class musicians, an internet café, a business/career center, an early literacy center and a haven for readers and thinkers.

Located in northern Summit County, the Library serves more than 26,000 registered borrowers who check out more than one million items per year. The Library’s collection of more than 350,000 items includes the latest bestsellers in print and e-format; circulating digital devices pre-loaded with popular titles for adults and children; downloadable e-books and audiobooks, magazines, music and video; Roku devices; foreign language materials and DVD/VHS converters.

The Hudson Library is renowned for its educational and cultural events including musical performances, author visits, historical programs, various walking tours led by the Historical Society archivist, art history lectures, films, book clubs and cooking with local chefs. Library staff has responded to the high demand for technology instruction with an array of classes and individual tutoring sessions covering topics such as 3D Printing, MS Office, computer coding, using social media and learning how to operate digital devices. The Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship Research assists the small business community with its unique collection of materials, one-on-one business counseling, database instruction and Entrepreneurship Series of programs that has become a mainstay among Northeast Ohio entrepreneurs. Children birth through teens develop a love for reading and learning through the many Story Time offerings, Tail-Waggin’ Tutors, Born to Play, book clubs and STEM-related materials and activities including Minecraft and basic coding. Ongoing programs include childrens’ theater, magic shows, puppets, Touch-a-Truck, and college testing prep by the Princeton Review.

The Hudson Library also provides the community with meeting rooms both large and small, the Watson-Ewell-Currin Art Gallery, HomeBound delivery, faxing and notary services, free wireless, Brewster Cafe, and Friends of the Library Book Sales.
