Mary Catherine holds a BFA in Art, and a M. Ed in Instructional Design. Her pastel work is featured annually in the Solon and Chagrin Falls Town Planner productions. Since 2009, she has been focusing her talents nationally on oil portraits. Recently, Mary Catherine was accepted to an oil portrait workshop with Wende Caporale, currently the preeminent portrait artist in the U.S. Mary Catherine’s work has been exhibited in Chicago, Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Cleveland, Lexington and New York City. Locally, her work has been shown at: Robinson Memorial Hospital, Hudson’s Restaurant, Laurel Lake, FastFrame, and Baycrafters Annual Juried Art Shows. She is a member of the Portrait Society of America, Akron Society of Artist and the Hudson Society of Artists. Mary Catherine grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and completed her fine arts and education degrees at Kent State University. After graduation, she married her high school and they have five wonderful children. She began teaching art at Saint Ignatius Elementary School, continuing on with the Bay Village School District, Lorain Community College, Seton Catholic School and Solon Center for the Arts. Mary Catherine has been the recipient of several grants and awards for art education and journalism. In 2009, she graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, with a master’s degree in instructional design and online adult education. Her master’s capstone involved advising art teachers in marketing their art programs while enhancing their art curriculum.
