Project Summary
The Sugar Plum Tour is Akron’s premier holiday home tour and the signature fundraiser of the Gay Community Endowment Fund (GCEF). GCEF is a fund of Akron Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity. Proceeds from the Sugar Plum Tour advance the fund’s mission of supporting programs that positively impact the LGBTQ+ community and Greater Akron as a whole.
GCEF seeks proposals to design and produce the annual commemorative holiday gift for its 2018 Sugar Plum Tour. These gifts are available to sponsors of the tour and will number between 8 and 12 dozen.
Professional photographs of the piece will be taken for use in marketing materials and provided to the artist for use in their portfolio and online resources.
Design Criteria
While there is not a requirement on materials or size, each piece must come individually boxed and prepared with a Sugar Plum Tour sticker already attached. The logo design and/or stickers will be provided to the artist.
The design should focus on the festive nature of this holiday event, as these gifts are collectors’ items for tour patrons.
Budget
The total budget is $2,500. Traditionally, each gift has cost between $13 and $17.
Project Timeline
Proposals should be submitted to Phil Montgomery at monty.phil@gmail.com by June 15, 2018, at midnight. EXTENTION: Submissions have been extended to July 1, 2018.
The gifts should be completed by Nov. 1, 2018. The Sugar Plum Tour Committee will work with the artist to determine an adjusted timeline should there be any additions to the original order.
Proposal Requirements
Submissions should include 2 visual examples of the work, an artist statement of intent, a written description of the proposed work, a proposed budget, and a schematic drawing or sketch of the proposed work.
Presentation
Finalists will be notified by June 25, 2018, and presentations will be scheduled for early July.
All decisions will be finalized by July 23, 2018.
EXTENTION: Submissions have been extended to July 1, 2018.
