CALLING ALL ASPIRING ACTORS & DIRECTORS

Theatre Workshops for Adults (age 18+) taught by Brian Westerley*

Each Workshop includes 9 classes on Saturdays May 4, 11, 18, 25, June 1, 8, 15, 22 culminating with a performance for an invited audience June 29.

· MASTERING the MONOLOGUE @ 10 am
Expand your knowledge of how to work a monologue, break it down into sections and use it to clearly define a character.

· SCENE BREAKDOWN @ 11:30 am
Learn how to break down scenes, develop your character in the scene and understand how it reflects meaningfully on others in the scene

· BASIC DIRECTING @ 1 pm
Learn the rudiments of setting a stage, how to and what to look for from actors during auditions, how to block actors and find rehearsal space to fit your needs.

*BRIAN WESTERLEY has lived and worked in Ohio, New York and Los Angeles. He appeared in the L.A. Opera’s production of Tosca, as well as local productions at Stow Players, Wolf Creek Players, Western Reserve Playhouse, convergence-continuum, and Weathervane. Westerley got his start directing in L.A. and has directed many local productions. He took Other Desert Cities and Confessions from the Ladies Room (Wolf Creek Players) and Thumbs (Hudson Players) to the Regional and State OCTA competitions, winning 12 awards total. Brian has won numerous other awards for his theatrical work, including trophies for Directing (Aladdin), Outstanding Supporting Actor (Twilight of the Golds) and three in a row as Outstanding Lead Actor (Butterflies are Free, A Christmas Story and Peanutman).
