Tuesday Musical Association has extended the on-line applications deadline through Feb. 5 for its 2016 Scholarship Competition.
The competition will take place March 19 at The University of Akron and is open to college and university students who are Ohio residents or whose music teachers are Ohio residents. Categories include music education, brass, organ, piano, strings, voice, woodwinds and, new this year, classical guitar.
Tuesday Musical’s annual scholarship competition is widely recognized as one of the best in Ohio. Since starting the competition in 1955, Tuesday Musical has awarded nearly 500 scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,000. In 2015, 19 students won scholarships totaling $25,000.
Founded in Akron in 1887, Tuesday Musical Association presents performances and educational programs that feature internationally acclaimed classical artists and ensembles, as well as young emerging artists embarking on major careers.
