Full-Time/Part-Time/Seasonal: Seasonal (Summer 2022)
Immediate Supervisor: Director of Education/Producer of Youth Theatre
Compensation: Hourly rate of $15/hour

STATEMENT OF JOB:
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching Assistants serve as an assistant to the Lead Teacher during our Akron After School Summer Program. Teaching Assistants must be comfortable assisting a teacher in improvisation games, movement and vocal exercises, and other theatre-related exercises as well as implementing a provided curriculum (of varying lengths) to fill classroom time in an engaging, creative, and fun way. We are also interested in artists with special skills in theatre, visual arts, improvisation, movement, stage combat, musical theatre, or text work. Teaching experience in an urban school environment is preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Participating with the students in improvisational theater games
Assisting the Lead Teacher in writing and rehearsing original plays
Assist with classroom management as directed by the lead teacher
​Strong and confident classroom management skills
Ability to work with both Elementary and Middle School Students
​Reliable transportation
Ability to take over a class when needed
​A love for the arts and working with young people!

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma/GED preferred
Experience working in the performing arts
​Professional experience working with children at the elementary and/or middle school level
Passion for arts education

CONTRACTED DATES/TIMES:
Training June 6th-June 10th hours TBD
June 13-July 1st 8:45 AM-4:30 PM
​July 5-July 15 8:45 AM-2:00 PM
​July 18-August 5th 8:45 AM-4:30 PM
