The Akron-Canton Airport (“CAK”) is inviting local artists to submit their qualifications, and sketches to receive a $1,000 commission to design and paint a 15 foot by 8 foot high white brick interior wall for the purpose of having adult and child size wings mural for photo opportunities. Looking for actual sketches/concepts that will ultimately be painted by the artist on our terminal wall. Please use your imagination, designs will be judged for creativity and functionality. This invitation is open to professional artists who are at least 18 years of age and reside in the greater Akron-Canton area.

A selection process will include the following criteria:

1) artist’s previous experience

2) quality of artist’s work

3) artist’s capability to meet schedules and work within budget

4) the artist’s ability to complete project. All sketches will become the property of the Airport, and all costs of the chosen artists work, including materials should be included in the commission.

The selected artist will receive parking for the time required to finish project and required barriers to block the area from interference during the painting process, the existing white wall is not expected to need painted prior to the artist painting. The mural must be completed by December 17, selected winner will be notified by November 28, by end of business day. Artist will be paid in full at the completion of project and given recognition on said wall.

To be considered for the project, interested artists must submit their qualifications electronically by 1PM EST, November 22, 2023
