Call for BIPOC+ Artists

Summit Artspace invites local BIPOC+ (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) artists to apply for a funded solo exhibition juried by Dr. Tameka Ellington, CEO & Founder of First-Generation Revolutionaries, and Letitia Lopez, Executive Director of the Julia De Burgos Cultural Arts Center. Through a blind-juried process, one artist will be selected to receive a $1,000 stipend to support the creation of a solo exhibition in Summit Artspace’s Horizon Gallery during the 2023 spring exhibition season (April 7 – June 17).

The application opens on Sept. 15, 2022, and closes on Nov. 15, 2022. The selected artist will be notified of acceptance by Dec.1, 2022. More details and the application are available on Submittable (CLICK HERE).

The exhibition is funded in part through general operating support from the Ohio Arts Council, Akron Community Foundation, and GAR Foundation.
