Cornerstone’s Institute Summer Residency returns in 2016 after a two-year hiatus! It’s all taking place in Venice, a distinct neighborhood of the city of Los Angeles.

The dates are July 7 through August 7, 2016, with culminating performances on August 4, 5 & 6.

Because our collaborating community is in our home city of Los Angeles, the 2016 Institute is designed for commuters who have a place to live in Los Angeles and who will coordinate their daily traveling to and from Venice.

Details of housing for non-commuting students are yet to be determined. We are investigating options for connecting participants who need housing with friends in the Venice community who have rooms to rent. Limited group housing may also be an option. We estimate this will cost an additional $1500.

Tuition for Summer 2016 is $3000. Tuition includes all curriculum materials, including the textbook Cornerstone Theater Company Community Collaboration Handbook: A Method, and evening meals.

There is limited tuition assistance available through the generosity of sponsored scholarships. However, we cannot accommodate all requests for assistance. It is strongly recommended that applicants seek grants and scholarships or professional development funds through your employer, university or cultural and civic service organizations in your community to help you meet tuition and/or travel costs. If you are applying for tuition assistance through Cornerstone, you must include the Request for Tuition Assistance form with your application.

Students are responsible for travel to and from Los Angeles. Out-of-towners’ air travel should be booked in and out of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Cornerstone is often able to provide transportation between the airport (LAX) or help participants connect with public transit options.

Universities and other institutions may give internship or course credit by arrangement with the individual student. The classroom curriculum, practical training, and experiential education are equal to many requirements for course and/or internship credit. Contact your institution and faculty advisors to see how you might gain school credit for your summer with Cornerstone Theater Company.

Applications are accepted January 15 through March 15.
Applications must be received on or before March 15, 2016.
Applications can be mailed or emailed to Cornerstone.
