River Gallery is looking for career-oriented individuals with a strong desire to learn the art gallery business. As the Gallery Manager, your main responsibility will be the day-to-day running and organization of the gallery. The position requires excellent administration and managerial skills, with the ability to organize and execute exhibitions while maintaining positive relationships with clients and visitors. Ideal candidates will have strong written and organizational skills, be tech-savvy and be eager to meet all sorts of creative challenges. This is a great opportunity to learn and develop professional skills within the Cleveland art scene.

Description: 

Full-time or part-time, Tuesday-Saturday, 11 am-6 pm at 19046 Old Detroit Road, Rocky River, OH 44116. Starting pay $14hr with opportunities to make commission pay.

Tasks may include: 

  • Assisting the Director in selling artwork and selecting of potential artists to work with.
  • Working closely with artists and promoting the gallery in order to attract new business.
  • Managing day-to-day office tasks, such as answering emails and phone calls, providing information to visitors, and selling artwork.
  • Ensuring the installation of the works of art in the exhibition space.
  • Creating content for social media accounts and email marketing campaigns, as well as updating the gallery’s website.
  • Managing gallery exhibition schedule and inventory.

Skills and qualifications: 

  • A clear understanding of the art industry.
  • Previous experience in a managerial role is essential.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential in order to promote the gallery and meet new clients.
  • Good administration and computer literacy skills are required.
