The Akron Zoo is looking for a Guest Services Manager (GSM). Core responsibilities include managing the guest services operations and staff at the Akron Zoo. This position is full time with benefits and is a Tuesday – Saturday schedule, candidate is expected to work additional weekend days and evenings when events are scheduled.

Essential job functions:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the zoo as it pertains to Guest Services
  • Oversee the supervisory team of:
    • Admissions
    • Rides
    • Food Service
    • Gift Shop
  • Hiring
  • Orientation
  • Training
  • Policy review
  • Conflict resolution
  • Must be customer service focused and have experience training staff
  • Revenue and attendance projections

The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, hospitality, management or a related field and 2 or more years of experience working in the hospitality industry at an attraction or park and 4 or more years of management experience. Person must be proficient in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook programs.

The GSM must be highly organized, outgoing, collaborative, strategic, independent, fun, creative, self-starter who is able to multi-task within a busy work environment. Must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), proven success in managing a team, positive attitude, and strong relationship building skills.
