Hudson Montessori School is seeking a part-time art faculty member starting in August 2022.
Founded in 1962, Hudson Montessori School serves children from infancy through 8th grade. The art teacher works approximately 8 hours a week, teaching Lower Elementary (grades 1-3) and Upper Elementary (4-6) students. The current schedule has art occurring on Thursday and Friday afternoons.
The optimal candidate will help his/her students meet our school’s mission: to foster a Montessori educational environment conducive to each child's unique qualities and abilities for the development of social, emotional, and reasoning skills that are essential for a lifetime of independent, creative thinking and learning in the world community.
Major Roles and Associated Responsibilities
1. Design and facilitate imaginative and empowering art experiences that are student-centered and thought-provoking.
2. Communicate and partner with parents on student progress.
3. Collaborate with faculty members on interdisciplinary learning opportunities where art will help children and adolescents demonstrate or communicate their ideas and beliefs.
4. Work with Advancement Office to produce art projects that are available at our auction.
5. Other duties as assigned by Head of School.
Qualifications and Characteristics
1. A strong commitment to the mission of Hudson Montessori School.
2. Bachelor’s degree required.
3. Experience teaching art to elementary and middle school-aged children.
4. Approaching parent relationships with a sense of positivity and proactive problem-solving.
5. A desire to make sure that all families feel connected to their child’s classroom and the entire school.
6. Possess intellectual curiosity and a desire to share that passion with our children and community.
7. Warm, strong communication skills.
8. A sense of humor, a commitment to teamwork, an affable personality, and a love of children and schools.
