Praxis is hiring a Part-Time Studio Coordinator! This is the person who is mainly responsible for greeting visitors and members as they come to our facility. This position requires an outgoing and warm personality, and the ability to communicate and connect with people of all ages, backgrounds and experiences. This person should be passionate about textiles with a basic education in weaving, dyeing and contemporary fiber arts/processes. In addition to 3 weekly Open Studio shifts, this person will lead our free Community Craft Circle. This position embodies our belief that fiber art is for everyone and should be shared, historic contexts respected, and community generated at every turn. Applications open until filled. Required Skills:
Weaving: applicant must demonstrate basic weaving knowledge and be able to assist Praxis members in reading a draft, dressing a loom, and fixing a broken warp thread.
Dyeing: basic processes (natural or synthetic) and dye kitchen safety
Crochet and/or Knitting: sharing these skills is a core component of Community Craft Circle and applicant should feel comfortable teaching these to beginners.

Main Responsibilities: Greeting, interacting with, and assisting visitors to Praxis as well as Members with projects during Open Studio hours.
Hosting Community Craft Circle in our Gallery, every Wednesday 6-8 pm. This event is open to the public and often draws makers from all walks of life. An outgoing and welcoming spirit is a must. Ability to teach a beginner to knit or crochet. Also, posts to Praxis Instagram to highlight projects.
Maintaining studio during shifts; cleaning, restocking, dye kitchen laundry, trash disposal, etc.
Changing the community bulletin board + calendar monthly
Sending communications to Members via Member Email once a month
Compensation: $18-20/hr based on experience
Unlimited access to Praxis studio & materials + dedicated loom
Ability to enroll/audit most Praxis classes
