The City of Akron’s Public Art Commission has issued a Request for Proposals for a qualified individual, collective, or entity to provide professional services for the creation and development of an electronic inventory of public art in the city of Akron. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 1:00 pm.

Established in 2020, the Public Art Commission oversees the budget, strategy, collection, and administration of the Plan for Public Art. The Commission is dedicated to celebrating the cultural vitality of the people of Akron and promoting economic vibrancy throughout Akron through the integration of high-quality artwork into public places.

The Commission is seeking a qualified individual artist, collective, or agency to provide professional services to assist the Commission in developing an electronic inventory of all public art within the city. The individual artist, collective or agency will develop a comprehensive inventory of all public art in the City of Akron.
This Art collection will be easy for residents and visitors to locate art throughout the City of Akron or to view on the Public Arts website City of Akron Public Art Program.

Projected Timeline

Friday, February 3, 2023 – Call for applications open
Tuesday, February 28, 2023 – Applications due by 1:00 p.m.
Wednesday, March 3, 2023 – Finalize Selection
Wednesday, April 12, 2023 – Announcement of selection
Wednesday, May 10, 2023 – 25% of Inventory completed
Wednesday, June 14, 2023 – 75% of Inventory completed
Wednesday, July 12, 2023 – 100% of Inventory completed
Wednesday, August 9, 2023 – Issue to Commission & Training Walk-through

Submissions must be made via online or delivered to City of Akron, 166. S. High Street, Suite 202, Akron, OH 44308, no later than 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2023. There is no fee to apply. Submissions after the deadline will not be considered.
