Peninsula Art Academy serves as a center for art education throughout this region in Ohio and beyond. This message is about Peninsula Art Academy being in dire straits and may not survive without immediate financial aid. We wish the situation weren't so urgent, but it is.

Peninsula is an attractive village with more site
amenities than almost any other town in Northeast Ohio. It has the National Park, the Cuyahoga River, the Towpath, the Scenic Railroad, the preserved buildings and its own Art Academy, offering a wide variety of art classes for adults and children. The Art Academy is a precious jewel and a major asset to the village, Northeastern Ohio, and all surrounding communities. That's the good news.

The bad news is that the Peninsula Art Academy has just gone through 2½ years of financial turmoil, not of its own making. Recognizing the Academy's plight, volunteers have come forth and obtained the services
of Business Volunteers Unlimited (BVU). A very capable BVU businessman has charted a course of recovery for the Academy.

Top priority is implementing improved financial systems, which BVU has completed. A debt pay-off plan is in place, especially for class instructors. To sustain operations, additional instructors are being
recruited. The board of directors is being re-constituted to provide needed management skills.

Debts need to be honored, followed by the fixed costs of rent, utilities and insurance. These obligations come due within the coming few weeks and just have to be met. We are working feverishly on sufficient corrections to be in place during the same coming weeks to sustain the
operations so we won't be in this same situation a month from now or a year from now.

This is an urgent plea to save the non-profit 501c(3) Peninsula Art Academy from disappearing from the village scene and all of Northeastern Ohio. It is hoped that all persons with concern for the Art Academy and for the Village of Peninsula will respond by donating $50 or more to help pay off the very large tax, teacher and bank debts, buy the time needed for the Academy to get back on its feet and to become, once again, the cultural pride of the area.

We must emphasize the urgency of this need. Can you put a check in the mail this weekend? The Art Academy will, of course, send you a letter of appreciation, acknowledging your tax-deductible donation.

Donations may be mailed to Peninsula Art Academy, 1600 West Mill Street, Peninsula, OH 44264.
