The Akron Zoo is looking for Program Engagement Staff. Core responsibilities include guiding students through the zoo while giving information about animal adaptations and presenting topic-based information at stations throughout the zoo. This position is a 20-25 hour a week position, working Monday-Friday approximately 9 am-1:30 pm. The Program Engagement Staff reports directly to the Education Mission Manager.
Essential job functions:
Teach Zoo Conservation Education Programs
Guide teachers and students through the zoo while sharing information in an engaging, theatrical manner
Play a character to present topic-based information at stations throughout the zoo.
Requirements:
The candidate for this position should have a high school diploma with some college preferred in the areas of science, education, or theater. The individual should be comfortable presenting in a fun and engaging manner (being silly for younger audiences).
The Program Engagement Staff should be a highly organized, outgoing, collaborative, strategic, independent, fun, creative self-starter who is able to multi-task within a busy work environment. Must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), strong relationship-building skills, and exceptional customer service skills.
This is a temporary part-time position (20-25 hours a week) working 6-8 weeks in the Fall of 2023.
Pay is $16 an hour.
