This is a project-based, fixed-term position totaling 180 hours between November 2023 and early February 2024, working 15 hours weekly on a flexible schedule, Monday-Friday. A stipend of $3,000 ($16.67/hour) is available; no benefits. The Curatorial Assistant is expected to work in person at the Shaker Historical Society in Shaker Heights, Ohio, with remote research and work supported when possible.

Qualifications and Skills

Background and/or education in art history, history, library, and information science, or a related field; Graduate or upper-level undergraduate students are encouraged to apply
Experience with historical and archival research in-person and online
Commitment to historical accuracy to support the creation of interpretive content and programs
Ability to synthesize and summarize data
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team-oriented environment
Ability to manage multiple tasks within established deadlines
Strong organizational skills
Comfortable contacting other organizations and institutions for research and/or image requests
Work may require reaching overhead, climbing on stools/ladders, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
Salary: $16.67 per hour ($3,000 total)

Job Classification: Part-time, temporary, hourly

Location: Shaker Heights, Ohio, with a partial remote schedule
