Black Box Series Classes are for students who are ready to be challenged! These classes focus on specific curriculum and elements of the performing arts.

Student requirements:

• Must be age 10 or older
• Must have taken at least 2 Weathervane classes or have equal outside experience.
• Must fill out a short form telling us why you are interested in the class. You can fill out this short application on our website.

If approved, you will be emailed a link to register for the class.

Classes are limited to the first 10 students

Directing Project
Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Tuition: $190
Learn what it’s like to run the show! In this class, students will learn the principles and practices of being a theatre director. Students will cast, stage, rehearse, and present short scenes with the assistance of an experienced instructor.  Students from the class will also gain the benefit of acting in each other’s scenes.  

Character Development
Saturdays 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Tuition: $190
What does it take to create a character? Students will work with their instructor to examine the many elements that bring a character to life. Students will present their characters through monologue work on the last day of class. Use your imagination and creativity while becoming a stronger performer. 

Triple Threat
Saturdays 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Tuition: $190
Become a Triple Threat in this black box class focused on scene study to examine the music, acting, and dance components of different musical productions. Students be able to hone in on each of their musical theatre skills to become a well-rounded musical theatre performer. 

Techie 101 
Saturdays 12:00-1:30 p.m. 
Tuition: $190.00
Want to learn more about what happens behind the scenes? Students will work with Weathervane training staff and designers to learn about lighting, sound, properties design, basic set design, sound, and more! For their final project, students will be responsible for all the technical aspects of final presentations for each class working with instructors and students to bring their performances to life with technical elements.

Arts & Culture Inclusion Council Presents: Representation Matters- Photography and Ad Spend

In this virtual workshop, Rob Greer, Tyron Hoisten, and Elizabeth Tipton will discuss why representation matters in advertising and content creation, drawing on their recent experience participating in ArtsNow’s SEEN initiative. This panel will be moderated by a member of the Arts & Culture Inclusion Council.

Who should attend?
Nonprofit and for-profit leadership and marketing/communication professionals interested in learning about SEEN and participating in a conversation about the importance of authenticity and representation in our work.
