Weathervane Playhouse is officially seeking submissions for its annual 8x10 TheatreFest, a celebration of the 10- minute play. Weathervane Playhouse celebrates the art of the short-format play with the eighth annual 8x10 TheatreFest, a weekend of eight 10 minute plays performed in repertory format. The "final eight" plays for the 2018 8x10 TheatreFest will be performed on the Weathervane stage from July 19 to 22, 2018.

Audiences will vote to select the first-, second-, and third-place winners of the festival. Audience members will also have the opportunity to help select the 2019 festival's inspirational prop. This year’s prop selected by our audiences is a sock monkey. The Sunday matinee will be followed by a reception and the announcement of the winners. The deadline for entries is midnight EDT on Friday, May 4, 2018. For full submission details, go to www.weathervaneplayhouse.com and click on the “Shows and Events” link. There will be a link for the 8x10 TheatreFest, or you can use the direct link: www.weathervaneplayhouse.com/8x10TheatreFest. There you will find the rules, guidelines, and how to submit your play for entry into this year’s festival.

THE PRIZES: Each of the eight finalists will receive a full production of his or her play and two complimentary tickets to TheatreFest. Weathervane Playhouse cannot offer travel and room accommodations for finalists. Those who are able to attend, will be greeted, feted, and showered with recognition! Additionally, Weathervane Playhouse will send out press releases about the finalist playwrights to our local publications and to any of the playwrights’ respective news outlets.

First Place: $350
Second Place: $250
Third Place: $150
Five Runners Up: $50/each

Please note, there is a $10 administrative fee per playwright. Scripts cannot be submitted without payment. Weathervane’s fee covers administrative cost for the TheatreFest. Among these costs are registration software, promotional costs to acquire submissions, directing, performing, designing, advertising, and the costs of producing the festival.

Weathervane Playhouse provides high-quality live theater with volunteer artists, designers, and technicians under professional direction, delivers education and training in theater arts and appreciation, and engages and entertains its audience to enrich the quality of life in Northeast Ohio.
