CALL TO ARTISTS
SCULPTURES, PAINTS, PRINTS, MIXED MEDIA, PHOTOGRAPHY, DANCE, OR MUSICAL PERFORMANCES

 

This exhibition is open to all artists who identify as female with first consideration being given to residents of Stow.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Cover letter describing exhibition proposal

Sketches or photos of proposed work

Artist Resume including biography, educational background, and exhibition record

 

DATES TO REMEMBER:

Entries Due: January 8, 2021 via email stowarts44224@gmail.com
The committee will inform artists of the decision by January 16, 2021
Final installation of work February 27, 2021 to be on display for the month of March, 2021
Selection Process: a committee from the Stow Arts Commission will review the proposal submissions and make recommendations with participating venues. Consideration will be taken of artist preferred venue but cannot be guaranteed. The committee will assist artists in locating sponsorship for proposed works but cannot guarantee sponsorship.

Notification to artist: local businesses in the community will volunteer to display artist work. The Stow Arts Commission will focus on placing the artwork in venues that complement each other.

Accepted Artwork: the committee will help artists to find sponsors to create the proposed work. Artists will be responsible for completed work to be ready for installation no later than February 26, 2021.

Delivery: Artists will coordinate with the Committee and the City of Stow in delivering finished work to designated venues to be on display for the month of March. Venues will have slight variation on exact dates and procedures for installation. The committee will help ensure artists are aware of those dates and procedures.

Reception: Determination of receptions will be decided by each venue with health regulations in mind.

Arts & Culture Inclusion Council Presents: Representation Matters- Photography and Ad Spend

In this virtual workshop, Rob Greer, Tyron Hoisten, and Elizabeth Tipton will discuss why representation matters in advertising and content creation, drawing on their recent experience participating in ArtsNow’s SEEN initiative. This panel will be moderated by a member of the Arts & Culture Inclusion Council.

Nonprofit and for-profit leadership and marketing/communication professionals interested in learning about SEEN and participating in a conversation about the importance of authenticity and representation in our work.
