2019 New Beekeeper Classes

Becoming a beekeeper in 2019 is an “amazing and unique” gift to yourself or to a friend!

The SCBA is proud to announce our New Beekeeper Classes beginning in January through mid February 2019 from 7-9pm! 

When: The dates will be Wed Jan 16th, 23, and 30th as well as Thur. Feb 7th and Wed. Feb 13th. Depending on snow and weather conditions we will have Wed Feb 20th as a snow date.

The cost is quite reasonable and you will learn the basics and essentials to begin a successful year working with and caring for bees. (see below) 
***Honey is an extra “sweet bonus”! Book and refreshments included.

Class will cover basic honeybee biology, getting started with honey bees, equipment, diseases of the honeybee, plants and trees beneficial for honey bees, fundamentals of hive management, harvesting your crop and preparing for winter.

SCBA has many hands on activities and meetings planned throughout the year to help you grow as a beekeeper as well as our own apiary for hands-on learning.

ADMISSION INFO

Cost: $85.00 per person or $125.00 per family. 
Returning class attendees $25 (Has book)

This includes 5 instructional sessions, your class book by Kim Flottum, “Backyard Beekeeping” and one year membership to Summit County Beekeepers Association.
