2nd Annual Empty Bowl Event to benefit Family Promise of Summit County

The Woodridge High School Art Department is partnering with Family Promise of Summit County to present The Empty Bowl Fundraiser to benefit the organization.  They invite the community to join them January 29, 2016, from 5-7 pm at Woodridge High School.  Family Promise of Summit County is an emergency center for homeless families with children in need.  Many shelters separate children from their parents during a homeless crisis. Family Promise is unique because their mission is to minimize the trauma to children during a homeless event by keeping families together during a time of homelessness.

This is the second year of the event. Woodridge High School Ceramics students will be making more than 100 custom ceramic bowls, using a variety of clay building techniques.  The FCCLA will be educating students in grades K-12 about homelessness. They will also be making a gourmet meal of soup, salad, bread, and desserts.  The Woodridge Middle and High School Interact Club will be our hosts for the evening. This year, students wish to involve more local artists and businesses to share in making a difference in the community.  There will be a silent auction as well as live music to enjoy.

If you would like to come decorate a bowl for the event to represent a business you own or organization you belong to, you are invited to join us this Saturday, January 23rd at Ohio Ceramic Supply in Ravenna​– drop in anytime between 10am-3:30pm. Bowls created on this day will be auctioned at the Empty Bowl Dinner on the 29th.
