82nd Annual Juried Student Exhibition

The Myers School of Art presents the 82nd Annual Juried Student Exhibition, on view to the public from February 19, 2018 to March 9, 2018. This exhibition displays student artworks from all academic levels, media, and disciplines that make up the University of Akron’s Myers School of Art and serves as an important representation of the current student culture and thought. The 82nd Annual Juried Student Exhibition will be held in the Emily Davis Gallery, located in the Myers School of Art, at The University of Akron and is free and open to the public during gallery hours.

A public reception will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 5:00pm-7:00pm. This same evening at 6:30pm, join us for FRONT Triennial’s Artistic Director, Michelle Grabner, in conversation with professor, Matthew Kolodziej, in the school of art auditorium.

This years’ juror is Alexandra Nicholis Coon, Executive Director of the Massillon Museum. Coon received her BA in Art History from Kent State University, and her MA in Art History from Case Western Reserve University. Before Coon became the executive director in 2011, she was the Curator at the Massillon Museum. Coon actively participates in many arts organizations throughout Northeast Ohio and is currently overseeing major renovations at her museum.

This annual exhibition is a fantastic opportunity for the public to see the talent that is developing within the University of Akron’s Myers School of Art. There is always a variety of ideas and approaches on display in this annual exhibition.
