A Christmas Carol

Magical Theatre Company, Northeast Ohio’s only professional resident and touring theatre for young audiences, is emerging from the madness with its first indoor performance in 22 months! The doors will swing open wide, welcoming young and old with its most singular and touching version of A Christmas Carol.

Directed by Co-Producing Director Holly Barkdoll, A Christmas Carol returns after a seven-year absence. When asked why this show at this time, Barkdoll reflected, “The isolation and depression that we’ve all experienced at one point or another during the pandemic has taken its toll on all of us.  It made me a little bitter, a little more impatient. I found myself saying ‘Don’t be a Scrooge, Holly.’  And then I realized it’s alright to be a Scrooge.  Just be the Scrooge that finds his way to a new outlook. The one that promises to keep Christmas in his heart all the year.  That’s always been one of my favorite quotes from this beautiful story. This is what led us to choosing this gem.”

A Christmas Carol plays December 3-19, 2021 and will feature some new cast members, as well as some former ones, all gifted with great versatility. Joining A Christmas Carol veterans Deb Lemire and Adam Hoffman (both of Cuyahoga Falls) are Mark Ross and Kyra Kelley (both of Akron), and Mason Brosch (Wadsworth). Dennis O’Connell (Canton) will be stepping into the role of Ebenezer Scrooge for the first time. The play will be accompanied by live music, played by fiddlers Cathy Grady and Holly Brunswick (Ravenna).
