Ballet Excel Ohio presents The Snow Queen at the Akron Civic Theatre

“The Snow Queen” performance will open with “I ❤ Shapes”, a reprise of a modern piece choreographed by Tom Evert and first performed by CVYB/BXO in 1989.  “I ❤ Shapes” celebrates the elementary forms of lines, circles, triangles, and squares in a dynamic modern dance. This imaginative and innovative ballet brings basic shapes to life through a visually stunning performance.

Ballet Excel Ohio’s feature ballet is “The Snow Queen”, a world premier ballet choreographed by renowned NYC choreographer Tom Gold and inspired by one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved children’s stories.  Two children are carried through magical lands and spectacular settings where they encounter an elegant queen, a snowman, flowers, snowflakes, and so much more in this timeless story in which the love of a sister melts the Snow Queen’s frozen heart.
