Discover how artwork can help young authors transform a simple idea into a descriptive story.
Cut Paper: A Pathway to Writing is a free arts-integration workshop for educators on Thursday, January 24, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Presented by Tuesday Musical and the Kennedy Center Partners in Education program, the workshop is at The Lippman School, 750 White Pond Drive, Akron.
More about Cut Paper, led by Kennedy Center Teaching Artist Jamin Carter:
The process of beginning with an idea and developing it into a story can be challenging for young authors. In this fascinating workshop, taught by Jamin Carter, educators will explore how students can use construction paper, scissors and glue to create artwork that becomes the bridge between an idea and a unique, descriptive story. Participants will learn to use selected elements of art — such as shape, size, space and color — to connect to story components of character, setting, events, and details.
No visual arts background is needed, but pre-registration is required. Click here for more information and to register.
