Cuyahoga Falls Art & Accessibility Forum

 

The panel will consist of four individuals who are connected to arts programs or have their own stories as artists in the Summit County area.

• Artist Sharetta Howze from Hidden Tr3sures

• Dance Instructor Erica Piper from Art Sparks

• Musician Mike “MaxHeat” Mosley

• Arts Advocate Alicia Hopkins

 

These four individuals will be sharing about current programs in Summit County in the arts for people with disabilities. We will engage the community in the discussion on how we can make the arts more accessible. We will discuss ADA accessibility concerning planning, coordination, and programming.

 

Each panel member will be asked these five questions; 1) In your work in the arts what types of accommodations have you made to include more people with disabilities? 2) How do you fund programs that your organization offers? 3) What do you suggest to anyone starting a new arts program or people who are planning arts events for people with disabilities in the arts? 4) What barriers do you see when creating programs or events in the arts when it comes to accessibility? 5) How can the community get involved to improve access to the arts?

 

There will be a Q & A time and light refreshments for those who attend.

 

Also, Western Reserve Hospital will share what they are doing to support the arts throughout the community.
