"FEAST" - Ballet Film to be shown at Akron Soul Train

Originally meant to be performed live and on-stage, “FEAST” was reinvented as a film (due to COVID-19) with the help of Akron production group Wasted Talent Media. AST is proud to be a venue for the limited viewing of this film and ballet.

Performance collective, Creative Destruction, includes two dancers, Christina Lindhout and Kelly Korfhage and artist Corrie Slawson. Together, they envisioned “FEAST,” a ballet that combines art and dance to present narratives about economic theories, environmental degradation, and wealth distribution. Creative Destruction explores the complexities of an economy through the interaction between dancers and objects. Dancers produce a story by interacting with tables filled with art and sculpture, each representing a different economic commodity: Sugar, Coffee, Bananas, Oil, Timber, and Beef. The combination of body movement and visual artistry are sumptuous, powerful, and surprising.

In conjunction with SPACES Art Gallery and the Andy Warhol Foundation, Akron Soul Train helped produce “FEAST” by supporting the choreographers Lindhout and Korfhage with a residency.
