Finding Your Eastern European Ancestors

Learn how to navigate the challenges of Eastern European genealogy research.

Finding European ancestors is a challenge, but this program covers a method that tries to simplify this daunting search. The program covers tips to find where your ancestors left, where to find the Eastern European records, and gives tips on translating most records. The author has done extensive research for records in Poland, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. The material will outline simple steps that will help find where to look and review translating aids for reading the documents.

This program will be presented on Zoom. You will receive an e-mail with the participation weblink one day before the program. If you are unable to attend or do not have an e-mail address, please contact the Special Collections Division by phone at 330.643.9030 or by e-mail at speccollections@akronlibrary.org. This program will be recorded and available on the Library’s website and YouTube page until Nov. 1, 2021.
