About the Workshop:

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at journalism, but didn’t know where to start? Do you struggle with how to promote your work, but feel intimated by social media? In preparation for the 20th annual First Night Akron, the Akronist is holding a series of mobile media workshops at local branches of the Akron-Summit County Public Library. Each hour-long session is a stand-alone class designed to give you an understanding of digital media “on-the-go.” Some of the subjects covered will include: uploading a video from your phone to YouTube, correctly and effectively using hashtags and composing the 140-character caption commonly known as a Tweet. Freelance journalist Yolanda Heisler will lead each workshop.
