God's Doors Are Open To All Outdoor Art Installation

An outdoor art installation demonstrating the open and affirming nature of First Church.

While our building may remain closed to in-person gathering, God’s Doors are Open to All! First Church is proud to announce the unveiling of a public art installation, God’s Doors Are Open To All, (#GodsDoorsAkron) starting on Wednesday, August 26, 2020. This installation is located on the church lawn facing Market Street.

First Church created this installation as a visual statement of its support of diversity and inclusion. Consisting of 8 full-sized doors mounted side by side, this project contains many visual, conceptual, and participatory levels of diversity and inclusion. Each of the 8 doors is of a different style or size, and each is painted one of the colors in the Philadelphia rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, black) in support of the LGBTQ+ community.
