Gorge Dam Public Meeting

Presented by Summit Metro Parks at Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium, Cuyahoga Falls OH

Apr 09 2019
Gorge Dam Public Meeting

Members of the public are invited to attend a community update on the process to remove a 420-foot-wide, 60-foot-tall dam within Gorge Metro Park. The dam is an impediment to the water quality of the Cuyahoga River and removal is expected to improve river ecology, create recreational opportunities and drive economic benefits.

Summit Metro Parks, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other stakeholders will present a project status update. Topics will include the Great Lakes Legacy Act, the U.S. EPA’s role in the dam removal process and the results of a recent hydrologic study. Additionally, participants will have an opportunity to ask questions or provide input on the archaeology and history of the dam and surrounding areas. A light meal will be provided by FirstEnergy.
