Helen Welch performing The New American Songbook (FV)

The Club @ The Civic presents Helen Welch performing The New American Songbook (FV)

For years people around the world have loved and performed music from what has come to be called The Great American Songbook. But worthwhile music didn’t end with Cole Porter and Irving Berlin.  For this show Helen and her trio explore some of the great music from the decades just after that revered golden age as they pay tribute to songwriters who made their mark in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.—hence the title The New American Songbook.

Song-writers include: Carole King Joni Mitchel, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, James Taylor, Bob Dylan, Bill Withers, Barry Manilow, Jimmy Webb, Paul Simon and so many more!! Songs include; Sir Duke, Both Sides Now, Ain’t No Sunshine, Fire and Rain, Jolene, Stand By Me, Wichita Lineman, Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me to name a few, all individually styled and arranged by Helen and her musicians to give a more contemporary feel to these best-loved tunes. Come with friends and family to enjoy these songs you will know and love.
