Intricacies; the residency work of Jennifer Whitten, opening reception

Join us to celebrate the opening reception of “Intricacies; the residency work of Jennifer Whitten” which will remain on view at the Akron Soul Train Gallery from Jan 25-March 4. Whitten writes, “My art practice expresses passion for materials and methods. I strive to find a balance between product and process. This residency work includes my explorations of modern minkisi, or power objects. Intricate and repetitive processes such as beading, stitching, binding, and embellishing bring visual and haptic power to my work. Specialness in a lucky object, talisman, or amulet connects the everyday and the mystical.”
