Learn to Crochet - Beginner Course

In this class, you will be introduced to the wonderful world of CROCHET! You will learn the fundamentals while making a simple washcloth, and then move on to an awesome triangle scarf.

Topics and Techniques:

The crochet hook and other essential supplies
Yarn: types and selection
Making foundation chains, single and double crochet stitches
How to pick up/drop strands, finishing off & weaving in ends
Introduction to reading patterns, making swatches and gauging your work
Skills taught: Chain stitch, single, double, triple crochet, and weaving in ends
Other skills discussed: Hook selection, swatching, gauge, abbreviations, how to read a pattern
Materials
180 yards washable worsted weight cotton yarn for dishcloth (Session 1)
350 yards DK weight yarn for scarf (Session 2)
One size H (5.0mm) crochet hook (for washcloth)

DIRECTIONS

We are located just a block off of Route 8 with ample parking behind our building! Northbound: Exit at Portage Trail and turn left. Turn right at 2nd street and immediately turn right again into the parking lot adjacent to the deck. Southbound: Exit at 2nd St. Stay in the center lane of one-way traffic. Continue straight when traffic turns to two ways and turn left into the parking lot just past the deck that will be about 2 blocks down on the left. Our back door is all the way at the far end of the building under the canopy. Just look for our sign!
