Lyceum Lecture: Dancing Conversations — Nature as Collaborator

Presented by The National Center for Choreography at the University of Akron and Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park at Happy Days Lodge, Peninsula OH

Feb 15 2019
Lyceum Lecture: Dancing Conversations — Nature as Collaborator

Join Christy Bolingbroke, Executive/Artistic Director of the National Center for Choreography at UAkron, to explore concert dance’s relationship to the natural environment. Part of Cuyahoga Valley National Park Conservancy’s Lyceum lecture series.

Concert dance and the environment might seem to have little in common. But both highlight that which appears in nature, be it the human body or the elements. Whether viewers are sitting in a dark theater or hiking among wildlife, both carry new worlds for exploration, potential discovery, and better understanding. In this presentation, Founding Executive/Artistic Director of the National Center for Choreography at the University of Akron (NCCAkron) Christy Bolingbroke will highlight how choreographers consider nature and the environment in their work and share examples of creative research and finished dances.

This event is hosted by the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and is part of CVNP’s Lyceum lecture series. CVNP is a non-profit organization and friends group that enriches lives and communities by inspiring use, appreciation and support of CVNP and ensure its preservation.
